For their project Re:depiction, Hughen/Starkweather invited staff from the Asian Art Museum to describe from memory an artwork from the museum’s collection. The artists then used the words from each interview to create an abstract work on paper. On the night of the event, Hughen/Starkweather’s abstraction will be shown as large hanging scrolls alongside sound pieces comprised of interview excerpts. Viewers will be provided with maps to locate the original works in the museum, and will be invited to submit their own memory of an artwork of their choice.
