The San Francisco Arts Commission has been working with the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) to develop a comprehensive public art program to be integrated into the design of the Central Subway system. Scheduled to open in 2018, the transit system will include three subway stations and one above-ground platform. The Yerba Buena/Moscone station will include an integrated two-dimensional artwork located on a prominent wall in the ticketing hall.
After a national call for artists and a competitive panel review, three projects were selected as finalists. Congratulations to Kota Ezawa; Hughen/Starkweather; and Leslie Shows.
You may view the proposals in person and make comments at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts or online, March 13- 24. On March 25 the comments will be summarized and shared with the Final Selection Panel on March 29.
